Golden Milk is a traditional Ayurvedic preparation combining turmeric with warm milk and black pepper. Curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The addition of black pepper increases curcumin absorption by up to 2,000%.

Ingredients

  • Turmeric powder1 tsp

    Use high-curcumin organic turmeric

  • Whole milk or plant milk1 cup
  • Black pepper1 pinch

  • Ghee or coconut oil0.5 tsp

    Fat helps curcumin absorption

  • Cinnamon0.25 tsp
  • Raw honey1 tsp

    Add after cooling below 40°C — never heat honey in Ayurveda

Preparation

Heat milk on low flame. Add turmeric, black pepper, cinnamon, and ghee. Stir continuously for 3-5 minutes without boiling. Remove from heat, cool slightly, then add honey. Drink warm, ideally 30 minutes before bed.

Dosage Guidance

One cup daily, preferably in the evening. Can be consumed year-round. For acute inflammation, increase to twice daily for 2-3 weeks. Turmeric can stain — use a dedicated cup.
