Dosha Suitability
In Ayurveda, healthy weight management centers on strengthening Agni (digestive fire) and reducing Ama (metabolic toxins). Excess weight is primarily a Kapha imbalance — slow metabolism, water retention, and sluggish digestion. This remedy combines green tea, rich in catechins (EGCG) that research suggests can boost metabolic rate by 3—4%, with Trikatu — the classic Ayurvedic "three pungent" formula of black pepper, long pepper, and ginger. Trikatu literally means "three spices" and is famed for igniting Agni and improving nutrient absorption. This is a supportive aid, not a quick fix.
Ingredients
- Green Tea1 tsp loose leaf or 1 bag
- Raw Honey1/2 tsp, added after cooling
- Lemon Juice1 tsp
- Trikatu Powder1/4 tsp (or pinch each of ginger, black pepper, long pepper)
Dosage Guidance
Brew green tea for 3—4 minutes (do not over-steep — it becomes bitter). Stir in Trikatu powder and lemon juice. Add honey once cooled below 40C. Drink 2—3 cups daily between meals (not with meals). Best consumed in the morning and early afternoon. Combine with regular exercise and a Kapha-pacifying diet for best results.
Always consult an Ayurvedic practitioner or healthcare provider for personalized dosage recommendations.
Contraindications & Warnings
- Green tea contains caffeine avoid near bedtime.
- Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
- Those with gastric ulcers should avoid Trikatu.
- Consult a healthcare provider for significant weight concerns.
